Department Features / Global Business Operations and Decision Analysis Research Center
**Department Features**
The application of management science is highly extensive. After carefully considering our existing resources and faculty expertise, as well as future faculty recruitment, our department has developed academic fields focused on four major areas: decision analysis, business management, statistical analysis, and financial analysis. By integrating these diverse disciplines, we aim to cultivate professionals who possess both a deep understanding of management science and the practical skills to execute decisions. Furthermore, we strive to enhance the quality of management science research and strengthen industry-academia collaboration to boost industrial competitiveness, thereby contributing to national development. The key features of our department are as follows:
**General Features**
- **Strong Faculty and Research Capabilities**: Our department boasts an excellent faculty structure, with strong research capabilities. In addition to producing a significant volume of high-quality publications, we have secured numerous National Science Council (NSC) grants (9 in the 95th academic year, 7 in the 96th, and 7 in the 97th). These achievements provide students with comprehensive course content and diverse research topics for study.
- **Comprehensive Curriculum Planning**: Our curriculum is well-designed and goal-oriented. The department’s curriculum committee includes students, alumni, external scholars, and industry representatives to ensure that course design is continually enriched and aligned with practical needs.
- **Internationalization**: We actively promote internationalization, providing numerous channels for faculty and students to engage in cross-border academic exchanges and collaborative research. Students have many opportunities to participate in exchange programs with sister schools abroad. As of December 97, our university has established partnerships with 103 sister schools worldwide, facilitating international academic exchanges for both faculty and students.
- **Advanced Information Technology Integration**: Our department is highly digitized. In addition to fully online administrative management systems, our teaching support and learning systems are extensively implemented through the internet, significantly enhancing learning outcomes. Our university library is well-stocked with digital resources, including a vast collection of books, journals, and audiovisual materials, serving both faculty, students, and alumni.
- **International Journal Publication**: Our department publishes the highly internationalized “International Journal of Information and Management Sciences,” which is indexed by prestigious international databases such as EI, SCOPUS, INSPEC, MathSci, Mathematical Reviews, Pascal, and ZMath. In September 2008, the journal was also included in the Taiwan Social Science Citation Index (TSSCI), making it a leading academic journal published by university departments worldwide.

- The Center operates under the College of Management, with a principle of financial self-sufficiency. All expenditures are processed according to university regulations. The primary sources of funding are: (1) government-industry-academia integrated research projects, and (2) donations from enterprises, alumni, external individuals, or organizations.
The Center’s responsibilities are as follows:
- Organize international academic conferences on management science to promote academic exchanges or collaborations.
- Review and publish international academic journals in management science, advancing research in the field.
- Apply for and execute the university’s strategic key research projects.
- Accept external commissions to conduct related research projects or consultancy services, providing academic advice in management science.
- Offer consultation and training services for external organizations’ academic conferences.
Other related tasks.

Two deputy directors will assist the director in handling assigned tasks. Additionally, the Center will have three department heads, responsible for the conference, journal, and industry-academia collaboration divisions, respectively. Furthermore, administrative staff, researchers, and consultants will be appointed as needed.
- The Center may plan to appoint expert consultants to provide advice on research and operational matters.
- The Center will divide operations into international conferences and journals. Each group will be led by coordinators appointed by the director, who will be responsible for the planning and execution of tasks in their respective groups.
- The Center may establish a research fund, and the establishment and management of the fund will be defined separately.
- These guidelines shall be implemented after approval by the College Affairs Meeting and the university president; the same process applies to any amendments.
